A different species from the bells — and this is exactly where the prior earns its keep. Chinense germinates hotter and slower: hold the media at 27–32 °C and expect anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, irregularly. Patience + bottom heat; don't give up on a tray early.

The orange lantern fruit carries the famous chinense fruity-floral aroma riding on serious heat — flavour and burn, the two qualities we get to pull apart by selection.
